The week after school ended Grammie treated us to some beach time. We went to Pajaro Dunes, a place where she has a lot of fond memories of time with family over the years. John remembers spending Thanksgiving there with cousins and having a great time. It was a magical week that provided the reset we all needed.
We really enjoyed the change of scenery, the lovely weather, and of course walking the beach. We found shells, kelp, jellyfish, and sand crabs. We ate sandwiches and sausages from Freedom meat lockers. At night we saw owls and the fishing boats out in the bay. The kids even braved the cold water for a bit of swimming on the days we saw the sun. There were a few people around, but plenty of open space. Dad, GrandDad, and Aunt B came for lovely relaxing visits.
I love this 3D wooden map of the area. (source)
We filled the spare time with reading and puzzling. The puzzle for the week was a nearly impossible floral without a single straight edge. It was tricky, but we got it done.
