Here is another book recommendation for the kids. It's the Asterix series of comic books, or graphic novels if you prefer. It's the story of Asterix, a Gaul, his huge side kick, Obelix, and their enemies the Roman soldiers. They were written starting in the 1960s. They are fun, but more slapstick than Tintin, and not exactly historically accurate except for the fact that there were Gauls and there were Romans. (These are good, but Tintin is still better.)
