In the Gospel of Jesus Christ keys are used as a symbol, but the essence is the same. Keys allow access.
"What is a key? It is the right or privilege which belongs to and comes with the priesthood to have communication with God. ...is the privilege and authority to administer in the ordinances of the gospel of Jesus Christ."
-Joseph F. Smith
These keys were lost after Christ and his apostles left the earth, but have been restored to the priesthood leaders of the LDS church. There are keys to the ministering of angels, restoration, priesthood, presidency, God's kingdom on earth, gathering Israel, sealing, and others. Each of these keys opens doors and unlocks power that helps us to ultimately gain access to Eternal Life with our Heavenly Father. It is up to each of us to live so that we can access these blessings that are available to all.
Note: the picture on the right is a door knob of the Salt Lake LDS temple. I hope you like my drawings.
